Mergers & Acquisitions

In May 2012 CapMan announced the sale of Tokmanni to a fund managed by the private equity company Nordic Capital. Tokmanni is Finland’s by far largest discount retail chain with approximately 150 stores across the country.

Funds managed by CapMan made their initial investment in the discount retail chain Tokmanni in autumn 2004, when Tokmanni and the Vapaa Valinta chain merged into one group. Tokmanni grew substantially under CapMan’s management both organically and through acquisitions. The turnover of Tokmanni Group increased from EUR 150 million in 2004 to approximately EUR 650 million in 2011.

The sales process of Tokmanni underlines Summa’s ability to provide its clients with value maximising advisory services. Summa was the sole financial adviser to CapMan and the other sellers in the transaction.
